A marker with a bold gold metallic effect

Gold is one of the shades used sparingly on a model but in exactly defined places: brass fittings, hardware, ornamental elements, insignia and parts of uniforms on figures, plaques and labels on bases. It is precisely on such small areas that a brush is awkward. Metallic paint has to be stirred, the pigment in it settles at the bottom and afterward the brush is hard to clean. A marker shortens that: the paint goes straight from the tip and is laid spot by spot where it belongs.

Use

• Work the marker in on an offcut before the first use, until the tip releases the paint evenly.
• Lay it on in thin coats; a heavy layer gleams unevenly and runs off edges.
• Gold only comes into its own over a dark base; on a light color it reads pale.
• Do not combine it with fresh varnish; the tip would dig into the soft surface.
• Wipe the tip after use and store the marker lying flat, so that the paint does not run to one end.
• On a large area the overlap of the individual strokes shows; in that case reach for paint and a brush.

Who it is for

It suits figure painters for fittings, insignia and ornamental elements, modelers for brass fittings and ship detail, and also for lettering a base or a label. It is a tool for fine work, not for covering larger areas. On the smallest details, though, it saves the most time.

Store with the cap closed and out of reach of children. Ventilate the room while working and avoid getting it on your clothes.
