A Kagero publication on the Soviet MiG-3 fighter, part two. Background material for the build as well as for reading.
Responsibility details are not available.
This publication from Kagero is devoted to the Soviet MiG-3 fighter and is marked as part two, so it follows an earlier volume on the same type. The page count, the language, the illustrations and exactly how the second part differs from the first are given by the publisher in the details of the edition; if you are after particular content, check them before buying.
The MiG-3 was a single-seat fighter from the Mikoyan and Gurevich design bureau, committed to action from the opening of the fighting on the Eastern Front. It was conceived as a high-altitude machine: a liquid-cooled V12 gave it decent performance at great heights, while down low it was less agile than its German counterparts. Aircraft of this type therefore served mainly in air defense, among other places over Moscow. The long nose, the prominent radiator and the slim tail make it an easily recognizable type.
The monograph works as background material for building a model. What is sought in it is a period photograph, a description of the differences between production batches and support for choosing a color scheme and the markings of a particular machine. If you are building a named aircraft, it is worth comparing several sources: wartime photographs tend to be poor and the figures for shades vary from one publication to another.
The book is for readers interested in Soviet aviation of the Second World War and for modelers who want documentation for the build. A kit, decals and other modeling goods are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
