Eight flesh shades of the Model Color range. The set covers the whole progression from the darkest base to the brightest final highlight on the face of a figure.

Painting a face is a discipline in which the result is decided by the smoothness of the transitions, not by the number of colors. This set is therefore put together as a ladder: from the darkest tone, which lays in the shadows under the cheekbone, to the brightest, which is applied with a dry brush to the bridge of the nose and the forehead.
In practice the procedure is to lay down the middle shade first, blend the dark tone into the recesses while the paint is still wet and only then work with the highlights. It is precisely the pink tones in the set that make the difference between a wax dummy and a living face, because skin is never one flat color.
The consistency of the paints is set for thin coats, which is essential on figures. A face in the usual scales is a few millimeters across and a heavy coat would flood the engraving of the eyes and the mouth. The dropper cap lets you take a single drop at a time, so you mix exactly as much as you need on the palette, with no waste.
Skin is the first thing a viewer notices on a figure. That is exactly why it pays to have the shades laid out as a ready-made ladder instead of hunting for the mixing ratio again every time. The set saves the most time when you are building a whole crew or a group of soldiers and want the faces to match one another.
