Six shades for the camouflage of German tracked vehicles - dark yellow, chocolate brown and olive green completed by a gray, a khaki and a green-brown.

The smallest of the thematic sets in this range goes straight to the point. At its core is the trio that every piece of tracked equipment delivered from the factory received from February 1943: Dark Yellow as the base coat, and over it Chocolate Brown and Reflective Green in patches or stripes. It is out of these three tones that the scheme most modelers associate with German vehicles today is built.
The remaining three bottles widen the use beyond the factory finish. Black Grey takes the place of pure black where black would look hard, on the rubber tires of the road wheels, on vision ports and in the shadows of the running gear. Khaki Grey suits dusty surfaces and tarpaulins, while Green Brown forms the transition between the green and the brown, so that the edges of the patches do not look stuck on.
The paints are acrylic, they are thinned with water and once dry they keep a matte look, which matters on a vehicle: a matte surface takes dry-brushing and pigments better. They can be painted with a brush straight from the bottle, and once thinned they go through an airbrush as well.
The small extent of the set has its logic, since it is not a universal palette but a targeted aid to a single camouflage scheme. Anyone building several periods at once will reach rather for one of the sixteen-color sets in the same range.
Anyone working with pigments or oil paints will appreciate that a matte acrylic base holds the applied layers without slipping. The transitions between the patches can then be tuned even after drying, without dissolving the base underneath.
