The drying retarder Gunze Mr. Retarder Mild in a 40 ml package. It extends the time the applied paint stays wet and helps against a grainy surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
A retarder extends the time the paint stays wet after application. When spraying in warm or dry air the paint dries before it has time to flow together on the surface, and the coat is then left grainy and rough to the touch. A small amount of retarder in thinned paint prevents that and the sprayed area has time to level out smooth. With brush painting it extends the time in which a stroke can still be corrected and reduces the traces of the bristles.
It is added drop by drop into paint that has already been thinned, always in a small amount. A larger dose extends the drying time markedly, the surface then stays soft for a long time, is easily damaged by touch and masking tape will tear it off. Try the exact amount on scrap plastic, because it depends on the temperature and the humidity in the room and on how much you thin the paint. The Mild designation belongs to the gentler version, which does not extend the drying as much.
Most of all in summer and on large continuous areas, where the grain of the surface shows at first glance, also with gloss shades that have to flow together smooth, and when painting larger parts by hand. In a damp and cold space, where the paint dries slowly by itself, you usually do not need it.
The product belongs with the solvent-based Gunze paints of the Mr. Color line. It is solvent-based chemistry, so work in a ventilated space. The package contains only the product, 40 ml; paints, thinner and a model are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
