Responsibility details are not available.
A printed volume from the Desert Eagle series, carried under the sequence number 24. The subject is the Israeli Merkava tank in the Mk.3D version and its service with the Israel Defense Forces. The designation Siman 3 is the Hebrew equivalent of the word model or version, so Siman 3 and Mk.3 denote one and the same machine. The volume follows on from earlier parts devoted to the same subject and is listed as the third part.
The Merkava is an Israeli main battle tank that differs from Western and Eastern designs alike in its very layout. The engine is placed at the front, so that it forms a further obstacle between the front of the vehicle and the crew, and the rear has a door for entry and for replenishing ammunition. Compared with the older versions, the Mk.3 series brought markedly reworked protection and a more modern fire control system. The result is a silhouette that cannot be mistaken for anything else: a sloped front without a pronounced overhang, a low turret and a conspicuously long rear part of the hull.
The publication will serve the modeler who is building a Merkava and looking for support on details, equipment and color finish, as well as the reader interested in the vehicles of the Israeli army. It is worth having at hand before the first gluing, because the differences between the individual versions of the Merkava lie in the details of the hulls, the suspension and the add-on protection, and once the model is finished they are hard to make up. It also serves well in the choice of shades, because the Israeli sand finish looks different in every photograph.
This is a printed publication. Kits, accessories and paints do not belong to it, unless stated otherwise.
