A set of paint masks for the markings of large models of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-5 and G-6 in 1:24 scale from the brand 1 Man Army, part number 24DET005. The masks replace decals and cover the national insignia, tactical codes, numbers and selected technical stencils. The packaging names Airfix models as the target kits. The package holds no physical parts of the model, but the masks and instructions for positioning them.
The Bf 109 G series was the most widespread version of the whole family. The G-5 had a pressurized cockpit for flying at high altitude, while the G-6 received 13 mm MG 131 machine guns above the engine, whose magazines pushed two prominent bulges onto the engine cowling. In 1:24 scale the riveting and the surfaces around those bulges stand out exceptionally well, so inaccurate markings show up at once.
The paint under the mask has to be cured and degreased, or it will tear when the mask comes off. Press the edges of the masks down carefully, spray the color in several thin coats and lift the mask soon after it has dried. With the large insignia in 1:24, check the position dry first and keep to the numbering of the masks in the instructions so that the parts of an insignia line up.
It is an add-on for a model, not a kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
