This resin detail set from the Czech maker Aires depicts the opened electronic (avionics) bay of the Fairchild Republic A-10C Thunderbolt II attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for an eye-catching rendering of an open service section with its internal equipment. The target kit is Academy.
An open avionics bay is one of the popular ways of bringing a model to life. The set offers faithfully cast electronics boxes, frames and wiring which, once painted, look like the real innards of an aircraft under maintenance.
Wash the parts free of the mold release agent, separate them from the casting blocks with a cut and glue them with cyanoacrylate. You have to intervene in the build: a panel is cut away at the relevant place on the fuselage so that the bay stays open. Spray the interior with primer and bring out the details with a wash and with drybrushing.
This is a modeling resin accessory, not a complete model. The Academy basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
