1:32 AS-27/ARN-5 Antenna (3D Printed) is a printed set of the antenna used on a range of American aircraft of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set produced by 3D printing that brings the American AS-27 aircraft antenna to 1:32 scale. The antenna belonged to the glide slope receiver and was fitted to a whole range of American machines, from bombers to transport aircraft. Printing manages the thin arm and its mounting without a mold seam, so the part looks like a bent piece of tubing rather than a plastic molding. The set is not a model of an aircraft.
The AS-27 antenna appeared on machines that used instrument approaches, that is on bombers and on transport aircraft alike. That is exactly why one part covers so many types: it was fitted to the fuselage and its shape was the same on all the machines. For a modeler it is a detail that is either missing altogether from basic kits or is rendered as a thick plastic spike with the wrong cross-section.
The printed parts are held on thin supports. Snip them off close to the part and level the surface with a scalpel; pliers would break the thin arm. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Drill the mounting hole in the fuselage in advance, because fitting it blind usually breaks the part. Apply primer before painting and paint the antenna only after it has been glued in place.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
