This set from the maker Art Scale contains resin main landing gear wheels for a model of the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory. Resin wheels offer a finer rendering of the tread pattern and cleaner detail of the hub than mass-produced plastic parts, and they tend to be shaped with the realistic impression of a tire settled under load.
The P-51D Mustang was an American fighter of the closing stage of the Second World War, with a bubble canopy and a Packard Merlin engine. On a display model the landing gear wheels and their tread are among the clearly visible details, especially on machines shown with the gear down on a stand.
Wash the parts free of the mold release agent and separate them carefully from the casting block. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. It is a good idea to paint the wheels before fitting; set the hub and the tire apart with a mask or with a careful brush. You will bring out the flat surface of the tire with a light dusting of pigments.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. The basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
