The Brigade Models Seafire Mk.XV 1:72 conversion set makes it possible to convert a base Spitfire kit into a Fleet Air Arm carrier fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A conversion set in 1:72 scale from Brigade Models. It is not a stand-alone aircraft kit but an accessory for more advanced modelers: the set adds the parts needed to convert a matching Spitfire kit into the carrier-borne Seafire Mk.XV. It holds a new nose and fuselage, wing parts with the fold suggested, a sting-type arrestor hook and a propeller, together with a decal sheet carrying postwar Fleet Air Arm schemes.
The Seafire Mk.XV was the first Seafire powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine. It came about as a carrier fighter of the Fleet Air Arm derived from the Spitfire and was flown from carriers shortly after the Second World War. It differed from the land-based Spitfire in its strengthened structure, its arrestor hook and its equipment for operations at sea.
First wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut away the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); protect your airways while sanding. The set has to be combined with a suitable base Spitfire kit in 1:72 scale, which the package does not hold.
The conversion set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
