DSPIAE AT-TZ02 - tweezers with a flat tip

Modeling tweezers in stainless steel with a flat, blunt-ended tip. Unlike pointed tweezers they offer a larger bearing surface, so a part does not slip or shoot out of the grip. That is the most common problem with small parts: pointed tweezers grip them at a single point and fire them right across the table when released. The arms have a reinforced profile and the surface is polished, so glue and paint are easy to clean off.

What it is suited to

A flat tip suits holding parts while gluing, gripping sprue remnants during clean-up, handling parts that have to be pressed firmly and any work where the tweezers carry weight. For decals and the finest photo-etched parts, on the other hand, the pointed version is better, because a flat tip hides a small part and you cannot see where you are placing it. The two therefore complement each other and it makes sense to have both in the workshop.

Use and maintenance

• Use them where you need a secure grip rather than the utmost precision.
• Wipe glue residue off at once; dried cyanoacrylate roughens the tip.
• Do not use the tweezers as a lever, or the arms will spread.
• Check the closure against the light; the faces should meet across their whole width.
