A plastic kit of the American Douglas A-20G Havoc attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from Eduard. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas A-20 Havoc was a twin-engined attack and light bomber aircraft with nosewheel landing gear, a pair of radial engines and a slender fuselage in which the crew sat separately. The A-20G version replaced the glazed navigator's nose with a solid nose with onboard armament firing forward, which made the aircraft above all an attack machine for low-level raids on ground and shipping targets. It was the most numerously built version of the type, and a large part of the production went to the Soviet Air Force under the allied deliveries.
This is a classic injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is assembled with glue for polystyrene according to the enclosed instructions. The real span of the aircraft was roughly 18.7 meters, so the finished model measures not quite forty centimeters across the wings and takes up a corresponding amount of room in a display case.
With a twin-engined aircraft with glazed areas it pays to keep to the order: first finish and paint the interior of the fuselage, and only then close it up, so that you do not have to go back to the cockpit. Offer the transparent parts up dry, cover them with a mask and paint only afterward. Try the engine nacelles and the landing gear legs dry, because it is precisely there that misalignment most often shows up on twin-engined models.
The kit will please builders of Allied aircraft of the Second World War as well as collectors of combat machines of American production. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
