A decal sheet for the Liberator GR.Mk.VI in the service of No. 311 (Czechoslovak) Squadron. Scale 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
No. 311 Squadron was a Czechoslovak bomber unit within the Royal Air Force. In 1942 it moved from night bombing to Coastal Command and its crews began flying long patrols over the Atlantic and the Bay of Biscay in search of submarines. It is to this phase of its service that the four-engine Liberators belong, which the squadron used until the end of the war.
The decals make it possible to build one particular machine with documented markings rather than a generic model of the type. With a unit that has Czechoslovak history that carries a meaning which goes beyond the modeling side: every such machine had its crew and its story.
Before building, check which version of the kit the sheet assumes. The designation GR.Mk.VI corresponds to one particular coastal variant and the schemes relate to it.
For units with Czechoslovak history, period literature and photographs of particular machines tend to be available. It pays to look into them, because markings changed during service and a sheet usually captures one particular moment.
