1:700 HMS Aurora 1941 Painting Mask is a set of painting masks for the finish of a model of the British light cruiser HMS Aurora.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut painting masks for painting a model of the British light cruiser HMS Aurora as she was in 1941, in 1:700 scale. The masks take care of what is most laborious on ship models: dividing the areas of the camouflage. British naval camouflage schemes of that time were complex geometric patterns with crisp edges, and cutting them out of tape by hand on a hull that small is a whole evening's work. The set does not contain a model or paints.
HMS Aurora was a British light cruiser that made her name during the war as part of fast striking forces in the Mediterranean. She operated from Malta against the Italian supply convoys to North Africa, and her service was among the most successful operations against enemy sea traffic. Her 1941 appearance matches precisely this phase of service, when the ship carried a striking camouflage scheme.
Degrease the hull before applying the masks and let the base coat cure completely, or it will peel off when they come away. Lift the masks off the sheet with the sharp point of a scalpel, not with your fingers. Press the edges down with a toothpick, especially where an edge runs over riveting or over the deck edge. Spray thin coats and take the mask off while the paint is dry to the touch.
The set contains painting masks only. Paints and the model are not included in the package.
