A masking set for a model of the ship Admiral Scheer in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk. Shaped masks for spraying, not a ship model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a masking set, not a ship model. In 1:700 scale the hardest part of painting is holding a sharp boundary between the hull color, the deck and the waterline. Hand masking with tape runs into the dimensions here: the band on the side of the hull measures a fraction of a millimeter and has to be identical on both sides. Pre-cut masks take that work away and guarantee symmetry. The set is cut to the shape of the particular Admiral Scheer kit in 1:700 scale.
The Admiral Scheer was a German warship of the Deutschland class, one of the ships nicknamed pocket battleships for their unusual combination of firepower and size. In 1940 she was reclassified as a heavy cruiser. She became famous for long-range sorties against Allied convoys in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, where she made use of the great range of her powerplant.
The set is for ship modelers who want a sharp waterline and clean dividing lines without cutting them by hand. It assumes that airbrush spraying is already mastered.
It is not a ship model. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
