A set of printed parts imitating the German naval antiaircraft guns of 3.7 centimeter caliber on a stabilized mount, in 1:700 scale. It is not a ship kit, but a replacement for the simplified parts out of the box, or a way of adding the weapons where they are missing from a model.
The gun of 3.7 centimeter caliber was the standard heavier antiaircraft weapon on German warships. Its peculiarity was the stabilized mount, which was meant to compensate for the movement of the ship in the waves, and semi-automatic loading round by round. That was precisely its weakness: against fast-flying aircraft the rate of fire was too low. The weapon appeared on ships in pairs in open as well as enclosed mounts and is clearly visible on models.
In 1:700 scale a single part measures only a few millimeters, so work with a magnifier, tweezers and over a box. Cut the print supports off with a fresh blade, and never snap them off. Painting is easier before cutting them off: the base shade of the superstructure and a light accent on the barrel in a darker tone are usually enough. They are bonded with super glue dispensed with a pin. Before gluing, check the position of the weapons against the drawing, so that they all point in the same direction.
