HGW 1:48 US Fighters Late (Fabric), seat belts is a set of fabric seat belts in microfiber together with photo-etched metal buckles for American fighters of the late Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail set from the Czech maker HGW, intended for American fighter aircraft of the late period of the Second World War in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but an accessory for the cockpit: the belts themselves are made of fine cloth microfiber, while the buckles and hardware come in photo-etched sheet. The combination of the two materials gives the belts a convincing look and a natural draping shape that neither plastic nor purely photo-etched belts can imitate.
The seat belts of late American fighters consisted of a shoulder and lap assembly that held the pilot in his seat during maneuvers and on landing. The set is based on the typical arrangement used on USAAF and US Navy machines at the end of the war and suits an interior built in under a sliding canopy.
The cloth belts are laser-cut and can be shaped into a realistic sag; they are bent over the edge of a tool and fixed with super glue. Thread the photo-etched buckles carefully and glue them spot by spot. The textile comes printed, so a gentle emphasis of the shadows and discreet weathering is usually all that is needed.
This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
