A sheet from the Rivetex line by HGW in 1:48 scale. It carries continuous straight rows of raised rivets that are not assigned to any particular aircraft type or to a single kit. The rivets stand above the surface, so on a finished model they show up as shadow and not merely as a drawing. The free rendering means you decide the length and the number of rows yourself: from the sheet you cut, with a sharp blade, exactly the section you need in a given place.
Most often to complete the riveting along panel lines, on cover plates, on the joints of the skin and around access hatches. They also serve well after seams have been repaired, because sanding and filling reliably wipe the riveting away and restoring it by hand is slow. A row can be broken and picked up again, so even a long seam can be completed in shorter sections without having to get the whole length right at once.
This is a wet decal. Soak the cut strip in lukewarm water and after a moment slide it off the backing onto the model. Coat the area with a gloss clear beforehand, so that no matte haze stays under the decal. Adjust the position with a brush and check the softened line against the light while the strip is still floating. On curved places use a decal softener so that the carrier film adheres and the rivets stay legible. Blot the excess water away and leave the joint to dry undisturbed.
For builders of aircraft who want raised riveting without pressing it out with a wheel. The model, paints, clear coat and decal softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
