About product

Humbrol Chipping and Scratching Agent

This is a modeling auxiliary liquid (weathering) for creating the effect of chipped and worn paint. It is neither a paint nor a kit but an intermediate layer that is applied between two coats of paint and, once dry, allows the top color to be flaked off in a controlled way. The result is naturally looking chips, scratches and rubs that give a model a worn, well used look.

Use

  • Apply a thin layer of the agent over the base (lower) color and let it dry.
  • Spray or brush the top color over the dried layer of the agent.
  • Once the top color has dried, wet the area with water and use a brush or a wooden stick to carefully remove small pieces of paint where you want the lower layer to show.
  • Working with Humbrol acrylic paints is recommended, as the agent is matched to them.

Who it is for

The agent will be appreciated by modelers who want to age aircraft, vehicles, equipment and railroad models realistically and to achieve the effect of chipped paint without laborious hand painting. Suitable for more advanced modelers who already have a command of working with layers of paint.

The agent is a flammable liquid, so work in a well ventilated space, away from open flame and out of the reach of children. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package.
