Masks for the landing gear bays of the North American A-36 and P-51 Mustang models in 1:48 scale, for the Accurate Miniatures, Italeri and Academy kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
On an aircraft model the landing gear bays are painted in a different shade from the surrounding surfaces, and the transition between them is hard to get at. This set holds masks with the outline of the bays, so the inside can be covered while the outer finish is sprayed, or the other way round. According to the name the masks are intended for Mustang models in 1:48 scale from Accurate Miniatures, Italeri and Academy, on which the shape of the bays matches the outline of the masks.
The set suits the modeler who wants a clean edge in the bays with no overspray, and especially anyone who builds several examples of the same type and does not want to cut tape every time. It can also be used when you paint the bays with a brush and only need to protect the surrounding surfaces. How many parts the mask holds, and whether it covers the gear doors as well, is worth checking against the manufacturer's information.
Wash and degrease the surface around the bays, and only then stick the masks on and press the edges down with a blunt point. Apply the paint in thin coats and let it dry only enough for the mask to come off without tearing the finish. Fit the gear legs and the wheels only after painting, or you will have trouble reaching into the bay. Correct any overspray with a brush while the repair is still small. It pays to paint and tidy up the bays before the fuselage is closed, because later a brush gets to them only with difficulty.
A masking set is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
