About product

Lotus 78 No. 6 - Gunnar Nilsson, Japanese GP 1977 (1:64, MINI GT)

A detailed finished collector's model of a Formula 1 racing car in metal in 1:64 scale from the MINI GT brand. It captures the Lotus 78 single-seater of the John Player Team Lotus in start number 6, in which Gunnar Nilsson drove the Japanese Grand Prix of 1977. The model is supplied finished and painted, on a blister card as a limited edition.

The real subject

The Lotus 78 was a pioneering Formula 1 car, the first to make consistent use of the principle of downforce through a shaped underbody (the so-called wing car / ground effect). In the black-and-gold combination of its sponsor John Player Special it became one of the icons of the era and brought the Lotus team a number of wins.

Workmanship and details

The model has a metal body and chassis, rubber tires, finely printed start numbers and sponsor markings, a worked-out cockpit and suspension. The black-and-gold scheme faithfully reproduces the period appearance.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Formula 1 models in 1:64 scale
  • Fans of F1 history and of the Lotus team
  • Anyone who wants a finished model without building it

This is a finished collector's model; it is not meant to be built or painted.
