1:48 MiG-21 R - EXPERT Kabuki Masks (for Eduard Kits)

New Ware MiG-21R EXPERT kabuki masks 1:48

A set of self-adhesive masking templates in fine kabuki (washi) tape from the Czech brand New Ware, intended for a model of the MiG-21R reconnaissance fighter in 1:48 scale. The masks are machine-cut to be exact, so that they line up with the shape of the glazing and of the other parts of the matching kit. The EXPERT version is an extended set: besides the glazing and the wheels it also contains masks for further details of the aircraft.

The real subject

The MiG-21R was the tactical reconnaissance version of the Soviet supersonic MiG-21 fighter. It carried an interchangeable pod with cameras or sensors under the fuselage and drop tanks; it served with a number of air forces from the 1960s. Its multi-part glazing and its markings make it a rewarding model, but a demanding one to mask.

Use

• Stick the masks onto a cleaned and degreased surface, press them down and apply the paint with an airbrush.
• They cover the cockpit frames, the wheels and, to the extent of the EXPERT set, further areas where a crisp edge is needed.
• Once the paint has dried, take the masks off carefully; the fine tape minimizes the risk of pulling the finish away.
• Suitable for water-thinnable acrylics, enamels and varnishes applied with a spray gun.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who want crisp transitions without painting the frames by hand.
• Builders of reconnaissance MiG-21s in 1:48 scale.
• Advanced modelers who appreciate the extended scope of the EXPERT version.

This is a masking set, not an airplane model. The paints, the glue and the kit are not included in the package.
