This is not a model of an aircraft but a self-adhesive kabuki mask set in the Expert version for painting a model of the American Grumman F-14D Tomcat carrier fighter in 1:72 scale from New Ware, matched to the kit from Tamiya. It is an accessory that requires the base kit — the set itself contains no plastic parts. The masks are cut from fine kabuki masking tape, which holds well, follows the shape and leaves no adhesive residue when it is removed.
The Expert version is the most comprehensive variant of the New Ware masks — besides masks for the canopy (including the framing and the inner side) it usually also covers the other clear parts, the wheels, the armament and masks for the camouflage. It therefore lets you separate fields of color cleanly and protect the glazing and small details without laboriously cutting tape. The masks are shaped for the parts of the particular Tamiya kit.
Degrease the surface before masking and let the previous coat dry. Transfer the masks carefully into place, press the edges down against paint creeping in and spray with an airbrush in thin coats. Once the paint has dried, remove the masks in good time and gently. Check the exact coverage and number of the masks on the packaging.
