Extended masks for the MiG-17F in 1:48 scale from New Ware. Masks in paper masking tape in the version for demanding builders; it is not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a masking set, not a model. The manufacturer lists it in the extended version, which with this brand means that the sheet covers not only the canopy glazing but also the other areas that get masked on a model: typically the wheels, the landing gear bays, the intakes and other selected elements. The masks are cut from Japanese-type paper masking tape, which holds well but leaves no glue residue when removed and does not lift fresh paint. On the wheels this is particularly useful, because masking a round disc against the tire by hand is one of the most tedious jobs there is.
The MiG-17 was a Soviet single-engine subsonic fighter that was derived from an earlier type but received a new wing with greater sweep and a longer fuselage. The F version had an engine with an afterburner, which showed outwardly in a longer, differently shaped rear fuselage. The type spread to dozens of countries and was also built under license outside the Soviet Union.
The set is for modelers who want to mask more than just the cockpit and do not want to cut the masks themselves. The set is cut to the shape of the parts of particular kits, so check before you buy that it matches yours.
It is not a model. A kit, paints and clear coat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
