A masking set for the model of the Fw 190 D-9 fighter in 1:48 scale, specifically for the early production version. The masks are cut to the shape of the parts of the particular kit the name gives: the model from MiniArt. A sharp paint edge on glazing or in a place that is hard to mask off is otherwise a job that takes several attempts; here it is enough to stick a mask down.
Masking is done before spraying, not after. The surface has to be clean, dry and degreased, otherwise the mask will not sit down and paint will run underneath it. First stick the piece in place and press the edges down with a blunt toothpick or a wooden skewer, especially in the curves of the glazing frame. Apply the paint in thin coats and spray perpendicular to the mask, not at an angle from the edge. Take the mask off as soon as the paint becomes tacky: in a dried coat the edge tears away easily. A pair of pointed tweezers and a pull at an angle backward, not straight up, will help.
The set is cut for one version and for one kit. Make sure you are building precisely the early production model from the manufacturer named, because the shape of the glazing and its framing differ between versions and between brands. The extent of the set, that is, what it contains besides the canopy, is given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
For builders of aircraft in 1:48 scale who want a cleanly unmasked canopy without wiping paint out of the frame.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
