Pre-cut masks for the control surfaces of the P-40K Warhawk fighter in 1:48 scale, cut for the Eduard kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American fighter that in the early part of the war served on practically every front, from North Africa through the Pacific to the Eastern Front. It was powered by the Allison V-1710 V12 engine. The P-40K version received a more powerful variant of that engine and with it a greater tendency to swing on takeoff, which the manufacturer answered with a modification of the rear fuselage and the fin.
The set brings pre-cut self-adhesive masks that cover the rudder, the elevators and the ailerons, that is the control surfaces of the airframe. With them you can spray those surfaces in a different tone, or cover them while the surrounding area is painted and get a sharp edge that tape cut by hand could hardly manage in this scale. The masks are cut for the Eduard kit in 1:48 scale.
Stick the masks onto a clean, degreased surface after the base coat and before the next color. Press the edges down with the blunt tip of a toothpick, otherwise the paint will creep under. Spray in thin coats and take the mask off as soon as the paint has set; it comes off a fully cured coat less well and risks tearing the edge of the finish with it. Look at the finished edge against the light; a small overrun of paint can be corrected with the tip of a blade.
Anyone who wants the control surfaces on a model set apart and does not want to cut them out of tape by hand will appreciate it. The package contains masks only; the kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
