Valom 1:144 Airco DH.9 vs. Albatros C.VII (2+2 in 1) — a set of four injection-molded plastic kits of two opponents of the First World War from a Czech maker.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 2+2 in 1 package from the Czech maker Valom holds no fewer than four injection-molded plastic kits in 1:144 scale — two of the British Airco DH.9 bomber and two of the German Albatros C.VII reconnaissance biplane. In one box you can therefore set a pair of period opponents against each other and at the same time get four complete models.
The Airco DH.9 was a British single-engine day bomber of the end of the First World War — a two-seat biplane derived from the proven DH.4 type. The Albatros C.VII was a German two-seat reconnaissance and observation biplane of the same era, used for reconnaissance, directing artillery fire and photographing the battlefield. Both machines represent the use of aircraft on the fronts of roughly 1917 and 1918, that is two sides of the same conflict.
The small 1:144 scale puts the emphasis on clean work — cut the parts off carefully, clean them up with a fine file and glue with a thin cement for plastic applied in very small amounts. Apply a primer before painting, cover in thin layers (ideally with an airbrush) and add the interplane struts and the rigging after period photographs. Small models come out well with a discreet pick-out of the panels and gentle weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
