A plastic kit of the Soviet three-axle ZIS-6 truck with a 4M quadruple machine gun mount on the bed, in 1:72 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The ZIS-6 was a Soviet three-axle truck derived from the two-axle ZIS-5. The two rear axles gave it load capacity and cross-country ability, and so it became a common carrier for all sorts of bodies. The bed of such a truck also carried the quadruple machine gun mount designated 4M, with four water-cooled 7.62 mm machine guns. It was a simple and cheap anti-aircraft defense: dense fire at short range against low-flying machines, and because the mount stood on a truck, it could be moved to wherever it was needed. Water cooling of the barrels was a condition of this, as long bursts would otherwise have destroyed them.
An unassembled plastic kit in 1:72 scale; the finished truck is roughly eight and a half centimeters long. The parts are carried on sprues, so cut them off before building, clean up the mating surfaces and try the main assemblies dry.
First assemble the chassis and set the wheels in one plane so that the truck does not limp. Finish and paint the mount separately, as it is hard to reach once it is on the bed. The cab and bed can take shading of the joints and picking out of the edges; the soiling belongs on the wheels, the fenders and the underside of the truck.
For collectors of Soviet vehicles in 1:72 scale and for builders of small dioramas. Paints, glue and filler are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
