The pens in this set are intended for work on a finished, painted model: they bring out grooves and edges, suggest shadow and soiling and allow work over small areas. The paint goes straight from the tip, so you need no thinner, no palette and no airbrush. The figure in the name tells the individual sets within the line apart; this is the second of them in order.
The surface of the model has to be fully cured, clean and degreased before work; on fresh paint the stroke bleeds. Guide the paint into hollows and along edges, that is where dirt would settle on a real machine too, and build the effect up gradually. The more of the stroke that stays on the model, the stronger the effect will be; the recommended way of blending the applied paint is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Before working on a visible area, try the pen on an offcut, especially if you are preparing to overspray the model with varnish.
Do not press the tip hard; pressure only widens the stroke and robs you of control over the line. Put the cap firmly on after work, or the tip will dry out. And hold to the principle that more restrained soiling reads more believably than a model overdone across its whole surface.
It suits modelers with no spraying equipment as well as those looking for a fast way to bring a surface to life between the individual steps of a build. It complements the first set of the same line well, if its shades are not enough for the model in hand. The model, the paints and the varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
