Red Primer Modulation Set (AMMO of Mig Jimenez)

This is a set of modeling acrylic paints, not a kit. It holds graded shades of a red-brown base (the red primer, or rotbraun) from a dark shadow to a light highlight, with which the surfaces of a vehicle can be lit by the color modulation technique without complicated mixing. The paints are water-thinnable, odorless and non-toxic, suitable for a brush and for an airbrush alike; every bottle holds a stainless steel mixing ball.

Use

  • Apply them step by step from the darkest shadow to the lightest highlight and blend them smoothly.
  • For an airbrush, thin the shades with the acrylic thinner the manufacturer recommends.
  • Guide the modulation by the fall of the light: lighter on the upper surfaces, darker underneath.
  • The shades can be mixed with each other and with the other acrylics of the same line.
