The matte primer in a rust shade from Titans Hobby serves as a base that at the same time creates the base tone for corrosion effects.
Responsibility details are not available.
A base coat in a matte finish and a rust shade. The primer has two jobs at once: it makes sure the following coats hold on smooth plastic, resin or metal, and at the same time it gives the model a color base. A rust shade is ideal for this double role, because it is exactly what should show under a chipped finish.
It is applied with an airbrush in thin coats on a clean, degreased and dry surface. Once it is dry, the coat that is to chip off is applied over it, either with the chipping fluid technique or by hand with a sponge. The matte surface of the primer is an ideal base for a dry brush and for pigments, because they hold on it.
Make the first coat really thin, more of a hint, otherwise you will fill the engraved lines. Wash the model before you apply it; on resin this also removes the residue of the mold release agent. Never leave the rust uniform; once it is dry, break it up with darker and lighter patches, otherwise it looks like paint rather than corrosion. Always try the shade on a test piece, because there is a whole range of rusts, and what suits a truck need not suit a ship's hull.
Shake the paint thoroughly before use. Work in a ventilated room and keep out of the reach of children.
