A yellow prepared for building the RX-78-2 robot, in a semi-gloss execution. On the model it takes up smaller areas than the main colors, but all the more is it seen by everyone who looks at the finished piece, because yellow always draws the eye first. The color is mixed in advance and you do not have to put it together out of several paints. A semi-gloss surface stands between matte and gloss and suits places where the shape of a part is to stay readable.
Yellow pigments are among the least covering of all. Applied straight onto dark plastic they come across dirty and greenish, and not even a further layer will put that right. So lay white or light gray under them, let it harden and only then spray the yellow. The difference is visible after the first layer and you save yourself the layering that clogs fine edges.
Yellow parts on these models often stand next to another color. Stick the mask onto the dried underlying paint before spraying, press the edge down with a fingernail or a toothpick and spray more thinly than would seem necessary, so that the paint does not run under the edge. Take the mask off shortly after it has become tacky and pull it away at an angle from the edge, not straight up.
Between the layers give the paint time to become tacky, or the depth of the gloss will run into patches. Stir the bottle every time before work; the pigment settles to the bottom. Choose the thinner and the ratio of thinning according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging and clean the tools right after the work; dried paint is much harder to get out of a nozzle. Thinner and cleaner are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
