Eight shades for Soviet armor of the Second World War: the base 4BO green, additional camouflage tones, black and gray-white.

Most Soviet tanks left production in a single shade of protective green known as 4BO. It was a cheap and readily available color and at the same time dark enough for a vehicle to blend with the edge of a wood. The batches differed with the factory and the season, though, so two vehicles standing side by side could look noticeably different; that is exactly why the set offers several close green tones with which this mismatch can be captured on a model.
A multicolor scheme appeared on individual vehicles rather than across the board and was usually the work of the crews. Brown and sandy bands were sprayed or brushed over the green base, and in winter a lime whitewash was used that wore into patches within a few weeks. The set matches that: to the green tones it adds a brown, a yellow-brown, a black for shadows and a gray-white for winter oversprays, which can be partly rubbed away once dry to reveal the original coat.
For a faithful result it works well to spray the base in two densities, so that the upper surfaces come out lighter than the sides. The winter finish is applied very thin and broken up with a damp brush or a cotton bud. The shades can be mixed with one another and also suit figures and artillery of the same period.
