White Stone

Vallejo White Stone — a texture paste for stone and rock

It is not a paint but a thick acrylic paste with a filler. The light color of the compound is only a starting point; the point of the product is texture, not shade. Once dry, the layer applied holds the shape you gave it and behaves as a solid surface that can be painted, weathered and accented with a dry brush. That is how it differs from paint: paint copies the shape of the surface beneath it, a texture paste creates that shape.

Use

• apply it with a spatula, a flat knife or an old stiff brush, not with a soft brush meant for paint
• a thin layer onto a roughly modeled base, several layers one after another for building rock faces
• create the texture while the paste is still pliable — by scribing, by an impression of kitchen foil or by pressing small stones in
• heavy layers take a long time to dry and may crack; it is better to build them up in stages
• once dry, go over it with an opaque color and a dark wash so that the recesses stand out
• at the end, go over the edges with a dry brush and add pigment for dust

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and cabinet bases who need rocky terrain, a stone wall, broken paving or scree slopes. It also comes into its own on figure bases, where only a few square centimeters of convincing surface are at stake. Its advantage over loose materials is that the compound holds by itself and needs no separately applied binder.

A water-based acrylic compound. Wash the tools with water immediately after work. Close the container; paste left open dries in the air and forms a skin. The product is not for consumption or for the hands of small children; store away from frost.
