Red in semi-gloss

A deep red from the Aqueous line, mixed for the color scheme of the machine called Darilbalde. The degree of gloss is given in the name itself: semi-gloss, that is a surface that reflects light gently but does not turn the model into a mirror. On red that is practical, because a high gloss on large areas brings out every irregularity, while a matte finish visually dirties a deep red.

Application and thinning

The paint is a water-thinnable acrylic and is ready to use. Stir it thoroughly before work, so that the pigment returns from the bottom into the whole volume; otherwise both the shade and the gloss change from bottle to bottle and from coat to coat. It can be applied with a brush and with an airbrush; for spraying, thin the paint with the thinner of the same line according to the manufacturer's instructions. Thinner for another type of paint may curdle the finish. Wash and degrease the base beforehand.

Painting tips

• Red covers markedly better over a light base than straight over dark plastic
• Several thin coats keep the engraved seams legible, while a heavy coat buries them
• Paint all the red parts in one session, so that they have the same tone
• A semi-gloss surface takes a decal better than a matte one
• Wash the tools at once, while the paint is fresh
