A small imitation of fasteners for models: a screw with an internal hex, that is an Allen, in the 1.1 mm size. An accessory for models with exposed mechanics.
A full millimeter, the stronger half of the Allen line. The most common use is as a replacement for the coarsely molded imitations of joints that a kit carries right on the surface of a part. Removing the original bump is half the work.
0.9 mm, a proper intermediate step between 0.8 mm and a full millimeter. It is used where the neighboring size looks either too small or, on the contrary, too heavy. A final varnish helps to even the look out with the surrounding parts.
0.8 mm, the middle size of the Allen line. The hexagonal recess works here as a natural shadow pattern, so very little is needed for the head to look deep. The most frequently chosen size for clearly visible joints.
0.7 mm, the last of the three finest steps of the Allen line. It suits wherever a joint is to stay clean while the surrounding surface gets its paint. Masking and the timing of the work decide the result more than the size itself.
0.6 mm, the second step of the Allen line. It is used where a joint is to be noticeable but not dominant. With a part whose composition is not documented, the choice of glue matters more than with an ordinary plastic accessory.
The largest step of the star-recess line, 1.2 mm. The recess is the most legible here of all the sizes, so the quality of the surface and the degree of gloss decide. It suits engine covers, brake calipers and other places the eye goes to first.
