Photo-etched landing gear bays for the Lockheed Hudson Mk.III from the Czech maker Eduard are a photo-etched set cut to fit the ICM kit in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but an accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane model but a photo-etched set. It supplements the landing gear bays of the Lockheed Hudson Mk.III kit in 1:48 scale from the maker ICM. In kits a bay tends to be dealt with as a smooth box, although in reality it is full of ribs, piping and riveted stiffeners.
On a model standing on the ground a landing gear bay is seen from below and from close up, and yet a mold gives it little attention, because it is awkward to produce. Photo-etched metal can put ribbing and stiffeners in there in a scale thickness that plastic could never have. The result shows above all after a dark wash is applied, when the structure comes out of the shadows and the bay stops being an empty hole.
Cut the parts out of the sheet on a hard surface; do not break them out with your fingers. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades so that the edge comes out sharp and the same along its whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate, that is, super glue; apply it with a pin, not straight from the bottle. Before painting, degrease the metal and give it a primer for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. The plastic part the set replaces usually has to be sanded away first.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted as photo-etched metal. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
