A Big Ed bundle of accessories for the PBY-5A Catalina, part two in 1:48 scale for Revell and Eduard kits. The continuation of the package of sets from Eduard for those who want to take a model all the way to detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second part of the Big Ed bundle of accessory sets for the Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina amphibian patrol aircraft in 1:48 scale. This is not an airplane kit but a package of several separate sets in one wrapper. It follows on from the first part and covers further areas of the model, so the two parts together give a kit a complete rebuild. The manufacturer has designated the bundle for Revell and Eduard kits.
The Catalina was among the most widespread patrol aircraft of the Second World War, and its amphibian PBY-5A version was given retractable landing gear, thanks to which it could take off from water and from land alike. It served for hunting submarines, for long-range reconnaissance over the ocean and for rescuing downed crews. It was that last role which earned it the admiration of naval airmen, because for the wounded it could come down even onto a restless sea.
Work set by set and keep trying things dry while the parts of the model are still apart. Bend the photo-etched parts over the edge of a ruler, glue them with super glue and paint them only once they are seated, so that the fine structure is not damaged. On large surfaces it pays to tack a part down in the corners first and only then glue the rest.
The bundle is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Revell and Eduard kits, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
