A set of plastic figures of Polish soldiers from the campaign of September 1939 in 1:35 scale from the maker IBG. It is not a vehicle model but an accessory for a scene: the figures are caught at rest, that is, in poses that most figure sets lack. It is precisely the quiet moments that turn a diorama into a story rather than a display of hardware.
The Polish army of 1939 had equipment with a character of its own: the wz. 31 helmet, a tunic with a collar and a distinctive field cap. The uniforms in the shade known as Polish khaki differed visibly from both the British and the German ones, and for a modeler that is a chance to give a scene a color that will not merge with the background. The campaign lasted only a few weeks, so every depiction of this army has a sharply defined time and place.
Do the faces and the hands first, because the whole impression rests on them. Build the faces from a darker base toward lighter layers and avoid a pink shade. Bring the cloth out with a dry brush on the edges of the folds and add a fine dark wash. Figures glued together before painting are harder to reach into the corners of, so it is better to paint them in parts.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
