A plastic kit of the Spitfire Mk.I and Mk.II in 1:72 scale from the maker IBG in the so-called ESSENTIALS release. It holds plastic and photo-etched parts but deliberately leaves out the decals and the printed instructions: the maker publishes those for download. The package is therefore meant for modelers who will supply the markings from their own stock or from a separate sheet.
The Mk.I and the Mk.II were the first production versions of the Spitfire and in 1940 they carried the main burden of the defense of British airspace. The Mk.II differed from the Mk.I mainly in a more powerful engine and in some changes for service use. Within a few months the propellers, the canopies and the armor changed on both versions, so building an early Spitfire is always a question of the right combination of parts for a particular machine.
Download the instructions first and go through them, because without them the right combination of parts cannot be chosen reliably in the early Spitfire family. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue. British camouflage is best applied in a small scale over a raised mask, so that the transition is not too sharp.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
