The Sd.Kfz.251/7 Ausf.D half-track with an infantry cart in 1:72 scale. A mixed-media kit: injection-molded plastic is supplemented by three-dimensionally printed parts and metal accessories.
Responsibility details are not available.
The kit combines two subjects in one box: the German engineer half-track Sd.Kfz.251/7 in the last production version, Ausf.D, and a light two-wheeled infantry cart to go with it. Besides the injection-molded plastic parts the box contains three-dimensionally printed tires, one-piece tracks and an engine, plus metal rod for fine details. The armament can be built with a machine gun or with an anti-tank rifle.
The engineer version of the half-track carried assault bridges across the body and was used to cross obstacles under fire. The Ausf.D shape was the simplest and quickest to produce, and you can recognize it by the straight sloping sides without a fold. The infantry cart, by contrast, was a plain sheet-metal two-wheeler introduced in 1941 with a payload of around 350 kilograms; from the end of 1943 it carried anti-tank rocket launchers and their ammunition.
Rinse the three-dimensionally printed parts, cut them from the supports with a fine saw and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Fit the one-piece tracks onto finished and painted running gear. In 1:72 scale the details are small, so lay the paint down in the thinnest possible coat to keep the engraving from disappearing. Dark yellow with patches of green and brown matches the late period when the Ausf.D was in service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
