An accessory set for refueling at a field position for the A-10C in 1:48 scale for the Academy and GWH kits. A detail for scenes from a forward base.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set for a model of the A-10C Thunderbolt II attack aircraft in 1:48 scale from the maker DEF Model, aimed at refueling in field conditions. This is not an airplane kit but a small accessory that adds to a scene a feature from everyday service, of the kind kits usually do not bother with. The manufacturer has designated the set for the Academy and GWH kits.
The A-10 is an attack aircraft designed around its cannon and around the ability to survive a hit. That is exactly why it was counted on for operating from forward strips close to the front, where machines are refueled and rearmed in the shortest possible time and without the support of a permanent base. A scene with refueling is therefore utterly typical of this type and on a diorama it tells a story the aircraft alone would not.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry out; they are glued with super glue. Try them dry before gluing and check from photographs exactly where the feature belongs on the aircraft. Painting is handled by a dark base, metallic tones and a discreet dark wash. Operational grime around the filling point will give the scene credibility.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The Academy and GWH kits, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
