A set of pre-cut masks in yellow masking tape, cut to the shape of the glazing framing of the British Wyvern S.4 carrier aircraft in its early version. The package contains the masks alone; plugs for the landing gear bays are a separate item. The target kit is the early version of the Wyvern S.4 from Trumpeter.
Masking the framing by hand with tape is the most time-consuming part of a build and at the same time the one where the result shows most. A badly done edge of framing spoils the impression of the whole model, because the eye reads it as crooked structure. Pre-cut parts hold the same width everywhere, go on in a few minutes and leave no adhesive residue when they come off.
The Wyvern was a British carrier strike aircraft with turboprop power and contra-rotating propellers. It saw combat only briefly, in 1956 over Suez, and two years later it was withdrawn. The early version differs from the later one in the shape of the canopy, so a mask cut for one variant will not fit the other.
