A resin kit of the French Gribeauval system 8-pounder gun in 1:72 scale from Hauler. The subject is a field gun from the time of the Napoleonic wars.
Responsibility details are not available.
The manufacturer describes the set as a resin kit of a French gun in 1:72 scale. It is therefore not injection-molded plastic: the parts are cast in resin, which allows crisp detail of the ironwork and the wooden carriage but calls for a different method of building. The finished gun suits a scene with figures as well as an exhibit of its own on a base.
The French army introduced the Gribeauval system in 1765 and replaced its older and heavier ordnance with it. Its author was Jean Baptiste Vaquette de Gribeauval, who standardized the dimensions of barrels, carriages and transport, so that parts could be exchanged in the field. Field artillery had three main calibers: the light 4-pounder, the medium 8-pounder and the heavy 12-pounder gun. The 8-pounder piece served in divisional reserves, with the forward corps and in the army artillery reserve, and a trained crew managed two rounds a minute from it. This ordnance saw most use in the wars of revolutionary and Napoleonic France.
First wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces with abrasive paper, protecting your airways while sanding. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and use a filler primer before painting. The wooden parts of the carriage come alive in an olive color with a dark wash into the joints, and the ironwork then in a graphite shade with fine drybrushing of the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
