A set of lacquer paints from the A-STAND line by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The manufacturer formulated the Hot Metal line to imitate the iridescent tones that arise on metal from the high temperature of jet engines. The box states five bottles of 30 ml. The paints are intended for the airbrush, not for a brush.

Use

• The shades are applied over one another in thin coats; the iridescent effect arises from their blending, not from a single color.
• The result looks best on a smooth metal base, which is why the line is used over metal that has already been painted.
• It suits the exhausts of piston engines and other metal parts exposed to heat and gases as well.
• Stir the bottle before every filling of the cup, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• The line has its own thinner and cleaner, and the label gives the drying time.
• Try the transitions out on an offcut first, before carrying them over to a finished model.

For modelers of jet aircraft and for those who want more than just a dark gray on exhaust parts. Five shades give enough room for a gradual transition from clean metal to the burnt end of a pipe.
