About product

ATOM Regia Aeronautica Late Colours - a paint set (6 x 20 ml)

A set of acrylic modeling paints from the ATOM line by AMMO of Mig Jimenez. The box states six bottles of 20 ml and the subject of Italian aircraft of the late period of the Second World War. ATOM is a water-based paint for brush as well as airbrush with a matte surface.

Use

  • With a brush straight from the bottle; for an airbrush, thin it with the acrylic thinner of the same manufacturer to the consistency of milk.
  • Its self-leveling behavior helps with the continuous coats that late Italian schemes tend to have.
  • Seal the paint with a gloss coat before the decals, as a matte surface does a decal no favors.
  • Stir the bottle, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
  • Do not thin it with lacquer or cellulose thinner.
  • Let the paint dry between coats, as a further coat goes on unevenly over a damp one.

Who it is for

For modelers of Italian fighters and bombers from the second half of the war. Late Italian machines were painted in continuous green-brown coats rather than the extensive blotches typical of the early period, and it is exactly that difference which decides whether a model looks right for its time. Six bottles of 20 ml will do for several kits in 1:72 or for one larger model. The shades are not listed by name here; the description on the bottles and the period documentation for the particular machine are what count.

These are paints, not a toy. Keep them out of the reach of children, and when spraying with an airbrush ventilate the room and protect your airways.
