Studio27 1:24, a decal sheet for the Mercedes 190E (Evo II) AGM Kärcher, DTM 1990 for the Fujimi kit. These are the decals alone, not a kit: you have to have the model of the car of your own.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit. The package contains decals only, the markings of a racing livery. No plastic, no body. You must already have the model of the Mercedes 190E from Fujimi in 1:24 scale, as the sheet is designed for that one. The point is simple: a kit offers one or two liveries, but this car raced with several teams and in several colors, and a collector wants that particular car of his from a particular season.
At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) was without exaggeration the hardest touring car championship in the world. The works teams of Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Opel met in it, with enormous budgets, bumper to bumper battles and full grandstands. The year 1990 was exactly that era when Audi too threw itself fully into the game with its all-wheel drive and the fight sharpened.
The Mercedes 190E in the Evolution (Evo) version was the Mercedes answer to the BMW M3. Specifically this is the 190E 2.5-16 Evo II: you recognize it at a glance by its huge rear wing and blown-out, flared fenders. The car looked as if someone had tried to cram a racing special into a calm sedan. Cars with this livery started under the banner of the AMG team with the sponsor Kärcher (the well known German maker of cleaning equipment); among the drivers who sat in a 190E Evo II in AMG-Kärcher colors in 1990 were Karl Wendlinger and Michael Schumacher.
For many modelers this car has one more dimension: the DTM was broadcast widely in the 1990s and the 190E Evo with its wing is an icon for a whole generation, a car from an era people really remember.
The most important thing at the end of the build: decals belong on gloss clear coat. If you apply them to a matte finish, the decal silvers: a milky shiny rim appears around the printing and the illusion is gone. It is absolutely the most common mistake and at the same time the easiest to avoid: first coat the body with gloss clear coat.
The sponsor areas of a DTM car are large and run across the edges of the fenders, the sills and the wing, so have decal softener ready for such transitions, otherwise the marking will wrinkle on the curved area or peel away. Count on the fact as well that the sheet does not cover the whole body: you spray the basic shade of the body and it has to match the decals in color. Once it is dry, seal everything with clear coat and polish it over, because DTM cars always shone like a piano.
The package contains decals only. The kit, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included and are separate items.
