LVT-4 Water Buffalo - accessories set N 1, 1:35 from Black Dog is the first of two smaller resin sets for the LVT-4 amphibious carrier. This is an accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A cast resin set of accessories for the American LVT-4 Water Buffalo amphibious tracked carrier in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog. It is the first of two smaller sets for the same machine; beside it the manufacturer offers set N 2 of the same size and a larger big set. The parts are added to the cargo compartment and to the outer surfaces of a finished model. As base kit it names the LVT-4 from Italeri.
The LVT-4 Water Buffalo was an American amphibious tracked carrier with a rear folding ramp. Moving the engine forward freed up a large cargo compartment that would take a jeep or a light gun, and the ramp allowed infantry to be put ashore without climbing over the sides. In the water the machine was driven by the shaped links of its tracks. The vehicles proved themselves in the Pacific landings and the British Army used them in Europe as well.
First rinse the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-tooth saw rather than snapping them. Sanding is better done under water or with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic will not hold on resin. A primer is needed before painting. Level the cut casting blocks on the bottoms of the crates so that the parts sit flat on the floor of the compartment.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
