A cast resin set of accessories for the American LVT-4 Water Buffalo amphibious tracked carrier in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog. It is the second of two smaller sets for the same machine; the manufacturer also offers set N 1 of the same size and a larger big set. The parts are added to the cargo compartment and to the outer surfaces of a finished model. As base kit it names the LVT-4 from Italeri.
The LVT-4 Water Buffalo was an amphibious tracked carrier created by reworking earlier amphibious vehicles: the engine moved forward and a folding ramp appeared at the rear. That made it possible to load a jeep or a light gun and to put infantry ashore under cover all the way to the beach. Propulsion in the water came from the shaped links of the tracks. The machines bore the weight of the American landings in the Pacific and served with British units too.
First rinse the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-tooth saw rather than snapping them. Sanding is better done under water or with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic will not hold on resin. A primer is needed before painting. Lay the cargo out in the compartment dry first and only then glue it in place.
The accessory set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
